Jeremy’s top 10 albums of 2012 (and a bunch of runners-up)

OK, as usual, going through everyone else’s lists has broadened the scope of what I needed to listen to, and I just know I’m gonna find something I wish I would’ve been able to swap in, but here’s my top 10 as well as a bunch of albums that almost made it for whatever reason.   [...]

Music I’m (still) Digging: Suzanne Vega “Solitude Standing”

Music I’m (still) Digging: Suzanne Vega “Solitude Standing”

Suzanne Vega’s voice is a warm hug on a cold winter’s evening.  It wraps around you and holds you, while her lyrics never  quite let you forget the chill just outside the window. This is one of my favorite albums of all time. Singles (the ubiquitous “Tom’s Diner” and “Luka”) aside, it is full of [...]

Music I’m Digging: Hammock – Departure Songs

Hammock – Departure Songs All I wanted from the new Hammock album was something that hurts to listen to, in the best possible way. Post-rock, emotional buildups, NOT just reverby guitar with repetitive loud cymbal hits like so much wanky post-rock these days). They added a string section and expanded their sound so much. I’ve [...]

Music I’m Digging: M83 – Midnight City (Trentemoller Mix)

Music I’m Digging: M83 – Midnight City (Trentemoller Mix)

M83′s “Saturdays=Youth” is one of my favorite albums of all time. I was pretty disappointed with his followup Hurry Up We’re Dreaming. It’s too long, and doesn’t quite capture the magic. Trentemoller’s remix of Midnight City is better than the rest of the album. Turn it up.

Music I’m Digging Friday: Susanna Hoffs “Someday”

Yes, that Susanna Hoffs. Those who might know her solely from “We Got The Beat” would do well to check out her powerpop excursions with Matthew Sweet on their two collaborations “Under The Covers” volumes one and two, featuring covers of such pop classics as “Cinnamon Girl”, “You’re So Vain” and “The Kids Are Alright”. About Me

Hi, I'm Jeremy Meyers. I'm fascinated by what makes us love what we love, what drives us to create, the personalities and process behind how creative works come together, and how those works influence those that experience them.

In 2011, I started Deeper Context as a way to explore this professionally. My job is to have conversations that bring out people's passions and interests in a personal, intimate and emotionally resonant way. My clients currently include solo entrepreneurs, musicians and authors, and I'm always looking for more stories to tell.
